On the inside: Curtains and Carpet

This "arty" picture is taken from the galley looking through the "fruit net" into the main salon. The port side of the main salon where the dinette is located.

The starboard side of the  main salon across from the dinette.

The vintage Persian rug Annie gave us for Christmas sure makes the cabin look elegant!

On the outside:  The Dodger

After our first attempt at fitting the new dodger on, John cut off an inch of the aft bow on each side which allowed us to get it snapped down to the boat.  John put new "common sense" turn button fasteners on the boat and then added the grommets and snaps to the dodger. It fits tightly, which is what it's supposed to do.  It will be nice having windows we can SEE through!

From the front starboard side. The middle front. From the front port side.
From the cockpit looking forward on the port side.  From the cockpit looking forward on the starboard side.  The companionway is visible here.

And now.... getting started on our new Monitor Wind Vane

This will be our "invisible crew" and steer the boat for us while under sail.  All we have to do is watch it!  I'll add more pictures as we progress.

John's thinking about what to do first, while Molly basks. Gotta take apart the supports for the davits to make room for the vane. Here she comes...
How do you like our "mobile" scaffolding?  Have van, will climb on it.  The ladder will come off too - so far we have just figured out where it will go and how the fittings will be attached. John fashioned these teak blocks to reinforce the bulwarks where the wind vane will be mounted.
The vane is completely mounted and, as you see, no more ladder.  The Davits are still there though...  No more davits, and you can see the vane and rudder - all done!

The rudder swings up when not in use.  The hard plastic vane is easily removed and stored below.

Miscellaneous Projects

An ongoing chore: refinishing the teak trim.  Here's an example of the bulwarks where the varnish (Sikkens) has worn off. John is loosening the old finish from the top of the bulwark with a heat gun so it will be easy to scrape off.   Wow- he's wearing shorts!  When was that? After scraping away the old varnish, it's sanded with a belt sander.  It's now ready for the first of four coats of new Sikkens.

Cindy set's up her sewing machine near the electric outlet in the parking lot.  She's working on hatch covers.  (Notice no shorts today!)  Here's the first of three new hatch covers - it's held on with velcro -    ta da! The bimini rack is being modified and reinforced to support the solar panel - now room for two. Cindy is making changes to the bimini canvas which will fit underneath the solar panel.

Now that the weather has warmed up, a new location with some shade has been found.  Here is Cindy ripping off the zipper she sewed on backwards the first time.
